Knowledge Wall
A live data-driven installation for Melbourne's Knowledge Week 2014 — a 2.7m LED screen in the Town Hall presenting event data, Twitter conversations, and open datasets as a visual language of ideas.
Live data-driven installation for the City of Melbourne Knowledge Week 2014. Knowledge Wall — developed for City of Melbourne — presents event information, data visualisations, statements, and imagery in the Knowledge Hub space in Melbourne’s Town Hall building.
The screen and software installation treats the text of events as a data source, and looks for connections between event statements, live Twitter conversations, open datasets, and event themes. Using a large LED screen (2.7m tall × 2.2m wide), the installation is highly visible from the street to pedestrians, cyclists, and commuters on the tram.

What the Screen Shows
Over time the screen presents:
- Summaries of all events, partners, and exhibition imagery
- Twitter participation: authors, keywords, n-grams
- All information is time-based as the event develops
